DIY | Ring Cones

Hello, hello!

I know, I know, this DIY has been done, but I wanted to try my hand at it. I’m in love! It’s so simple, therapeutic, & so rewarding! For all my visual learners, I’ve made a tutorial on YouTube, for the rest of you, keep scrolling to know how to make these bad boys!

Here’s what you’ll need:

-Sculpey Clay – I used ‘Transparent’
-Polymer Clay Glaze
-Water & Acetone

Step 1.
Roll clay into a ball, and slowly roll out your ball into a cone. From then start to mold the cone into your desired shape. Keep in mind that the ring cannot be too skinny, or else the ring will fall down to the base.

Step 2.
After you’ve got all your cones shaped, load them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Follow your instructions on how to bake your polymer clay. In my experience, I used a toaster oven, set it for 350 degrees, & watched it like a hawk. If I turned away for just a minute, they usually burn. I left it in there for about 5 minutes or less. I also give them a little ice bath to cool down. I have yet to encounter any cracking or splitting of the clay from doing so.

Step 3.
Once your baked cone has cooled, dip your cone into your desired paint color. The mixture should be 1 part paint to 1 part water. You want it to be the consistency off coffee creamer. It helps the cone to get an even coverage and it’s easier to dip & dry.

I decided to double dip mine & I loved the way it turned out! I waited 2 hours until my paint has dried and I dipped them in glaze. I left mine to dry upside down over night.

& Voila! Beautiful ring cones you can use yourself or give as gifts to a close friend! Let me know if you guys end up making some yourself!
